I tried to order a cheeseburger from
McDonalds. They have pictures of the hamburgers on the wall, so I tried to show
the cashier by pointing at what I wanted. She did not understand, so I tried to
tell her that I wanted the one in the middle, top line. The cashier was
confused when I tried to order, but eventually she understood what I meant. I
don’t think she understood that I “couldn’t read”. I got the food I wanted, but
I think she was confused by my way of ordering, and because of that she must
have forgotten that I wanted a plain hamburger.
The experience was not easy, because it was
hard not to say exactly what I wanted. It was a new and different experience.
