By looking at the statistics of countries with high percentage of Catholicism I do not see a clear correlation between religion and high birthrate. What seems to be the case is that countries with higher percentage of infant mortality tend to have higher birthrate than countries with lower percentage of infant mortality. In some poor countries the birthrate is significant higher than country with stable economy. Mali, which is a poor African country has a birthrate of disturbing 44.6/1000 populations, Compared to the rest of the world they have the 2. Largest birthrate. By looking at the top of the list with countries that has the largest percentage of birthrate poor African countries stands out.
My conclusion is that poverty plays a more significant role in birthrate.
Though there is a technologically conservative prohibition against birth control among Catholic populations, my statistics of the Catholic countries does not prove this prohibition to exist in behavior.
