Assignment #3 by Marte Christine Bakken

Mr. Asahi.

Mr. Asahi is one of the first robotic barmen and was first launched to the public in 2008 by Asahi Beer. It has the basic bartender skills, and can serve people both draft and bottles of Asahi beer. It will also serve some other essential purposes of a bartender, by understanding what a person order and talk to the customer and give them back their change.
It´s development is said to have been only 200 hours, but to be completely done and ready to be presented to the public took another 6 months of fine-tuning.

Bartender is a low skilled job that rarely requires a high amount of knowledge. This Asahi robot cannot replace all bartenders, considering it only offers to serve beer, and not any sorts of mixed drinks or other liquor. But there is absolutely a chance that is could replace an amount of the workers. It works in a high speed tempo and have the possibility to serve up to 16 beers at the time, actually serving on an average of 2 minute per person, while the average of the time a person do spend in the bar to get a beer is 15 minutes. In admission to the fast work, Mr. Asahi is also capable of working all the time without breaks to eat, go to the bathroom and does not get tired. The robot has a pleasant attitude, but there are of course some issues like the ability to understand drunken people, with the background noise and music as well. The chance of replacing some bartenders is an absolute possibility.
